Government Representatives to Meet Maratha Protesters as Fast Continues

The ongoing hunger strike by Manoj Zarge Patil entered its eleventh day on September 8, with the activist’s condition worsening due to low blood sugar. Medical personnel administered a saline infusion after detecting dizziness and weakness.

Following the health scare, Udai Samant and Prasad Lad personally called Zarge, requesting that he accept treatment and assuring him that the state would start addressing the reservation issues immediately.

A government delegation is slated to arrive later in the day to discuss the Maratha community’s demand for inclusion as Kunbi in the OBC quota. The meeting aims to balance the concerns of existing OBC and Kunbi groups, who fear that a blanket classification could reduce their share of the quota.
