Government Reshuffles RAS Cadre, Targets Officials Stuck in Same Post Since 2021

Ahead of the forthcoming local body polls, the Rajasthan administration has launched a sweeping reshuffle of its RAS cadre, moving 183 officers to different districts and departments. The Personnel Department announced the transfers on Tuesday, with immediate effect, responding to the State Election Commission’s call for rotating officials who have remained in a single posting for three years or who are serving in their native districts.

Among those affected is Yogi Kumar Srivastava, who served as a Special Officer in the Chief Minister’s Office. He has been reassigned as the Managing Director of Gangangar Sugar Mills Ltd., based in Jaipur. The list also highlights the second transfer for Pinky Meena, now posted as Assistant Collector (Headquarters) in Dausa after a stint as Assistant Director in the Administrative Reforms and Coordination Department in Sawai Madhopur.

Additional postings include the appointment of several officers to Sub‑Divisional Magistrate and Additional District Magistrate roles, as well as senior positions within urban development bodies. Names such as Mahavir Kharaadi, Ashok Kumar IV, Naresh Bunkar, Rajveer Singh Chaudhary, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Alok Jain, Akash Ranjan, Jagdish Prasad Gaud, Rajkumar Kaswa and Om Prakash Sahran have also been shifted.

The move is interpreted as a strategic effort to eliminate any potential administrative bias ahead of the elections and to ensure that officials with long‑standing tenures do not influence the polling environment. It also prepares the bureaucracy for the imminent enforcement of the model code of conduct.
