Government's LPG reduction eases burden on food service sector

The latest price cut for 19‑kg commercial LPG cylinders is being hailed as a timely relief for the hospitality and food‑service industry. By shaving more than ₹200 off each cylinder, the government aims to counteract the recent surge in wholesale LPG prices triggered by conflict in the Middle East.

Analysts point out that commercial users, who consume far more gas than households, are particularly sensitive to price fluctuations. The reduction follows an earlier cut of ₹183.5 on July 1, suggesting a pattern of responsive policy measures. Officials have emphasized that the discount applies solely to commercial cylinders; domestic users will continue to pay the existing rate for 14.2‑kg cylinders.
