Government Initiatives Boost Girl Child Education and Health in UP

Lucknow – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath affirmed that the empowerment of women is the keystone of a prosperous Uttar Pradesh and a developed nation. Addressing followers on Navratri’s fifth day, he highlighted how the state’s daughters are moving past scarcity of opportunities, using talent and diligence to set new benchmarks.

He noted that prior to 2017, administrations largely ignored maternal health and girl‑child education, allowing corruption and neglect to erode essential services. Hospitals were ill‑equipped, essential medicines scarce, and institutional delivery systems weak, pushing maternal‑infant mortality to dangerous heights.

The current “double‑engine” government, he said, has overhauled the scenario in the last nine and a half years. Primary‑school infrastructure saturation rose from 36 % to more than 96 %, while dropout rates fell sharply from 20 % to under 3 %. Initiatives such as Operation Kayakalp, Atal Residential Schools and the extension of Kasturba Girls’ Schools up to class 12 now offer world‑class residential education to children from labour‑intensive and marginalized backgrounds.

He also referenced flagship schemes like the Prime Minister’s Matri Vandan Yojana, nutrition drives, and Ayushman Bharat, which have delivered cashless medical care to millions of women, markedly reducing maternal and infant deaths. The Chief Minister’s Abhiyan Yojana provides free coaching for competitive exams, and the force of women police officers has swelled from about 10,000 in 2016 to over 44,000 today.

“Empowered women make a strong Uttar Pradesh and a thriving India,” he concluded, invoking Mother Skandamata for blessings.
