Gondia Road Accident Leaves 14 Casualties as Pickup Overturns After Truck Hit

A devastating road accident occurred on the Gondia‑Balaghat highway on September 8, when a speeding truck collided head‑on with a pickup in the Nagara region of Gondia district. The impact propelled the pickup’s rear end away from the vehicle, causing it to break apart.

The crash claimed the lives of three passengers inside the pickup and left eleven more with life‑threatening injuries. All of the injured were migrant workers from Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, travelling to the city of Hyderabad for job opportunities.

Rescue crews, supported by local villagers, quickly reached the scene, freed the trapped occupants and moved them to Gondia’s government hospital. Medical officials say the condition of several patients is still critical.

Police have lodged an FIR and are pursuing a forensic examination of the vehicles and the road conditions. The identities of the three dead have yet to be confirmed publicly.

The accident is reminiscent of an earlier high‑speed collision in Satara district in August, which also involved young labourers from the region and resulted in multiple fatalities.
