State Budget Allocates ₹100 Crore to Support LPG Costs in Goa

In a landmark move, Goa's administration has dedicated ₹100 crore to the Ujjwala Scheme 2026, a program designed to subsidize LPG cylinder expenses for women and low‑income households. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, joined by Union State Minister Sripad Naik, highlighted the scheme's role in strengthening household financial stability.

Eligible families will receive a yearly stipend that matches the cost of three LPG cylinders, roughly ₹3,000 per cylinder, transferred directly to their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and Electronic Clearing Service (ECS).

The initiative targets an initial beneficiary pool of 250,000 families, with applications accepted through offline forms at gram panchayat and municipal offices. The scheme welcomes both Griha Aadhaar and DASS beneficiaries, offering a streamlined document process for them, while other applicants must furnish the required paperwork.

This financial assistance is expected to alleviate cooking fuel expenses and empower women by reducing household financial strain.
