Girar Ropeway Connects Temple to Base, Handles 1 Million Visitors

The Girar Ropeway, stretching 2.12 km from the foothills to the Ambaji Mata Temple at 3,660 feet, is counted among the world’s longest cable car systems. With 31 cabins capable of moving 1,000 passengers per hour, a typical ride lasts about nine minutes, allowing more than 8.31 lakh visitors to bypass roughly 5,000 stair steps.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the line in October 2020. The service runs daily from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, supported by amenities such as locker rooms, drinking water stations, restrooms, and even a mother‑care room for families traveling with infants.
