Ghosh Highlights Inactive Village Panchayat Heads, Warns of Service Delays

Turning to grassroots administration, the minister said roughly 2,000 village panchayat heads in West Bengal are either absent, have fled, or remain inactive. He warned that such neglect hampers the delivery of government schemes and daily administrative work. "Elected representatives receive a salary; the people’s welfare rests on you," Ghosh told the officials. He urged them to resume duties, promising that the state would intervene if the heads fail to act, but warned that continued absenteeism could create bigger problems for the communities they serve.
