Gaya Airport Security Team Intercepts Suspected Smuggled Gold
Security personnel at Gaya Airport have intercepted suspected smuggled gold during a routine pre-embarkation check, reinforcing the importance of alert screening at airports in Bihar.
The operation unfolded on Wednesday, October 28, around 11:40 AM. A passenger bound for Kolkata on an IndiGo domestic flight submitted his hand baggage for screening at the pre-embarkation security check point in the domestic Security Hold Area of the airport.
The X-ray Baggage Inspection System flagged an abnormally dense metallic object inside the bag. The CISF screening officer on duty recognised the anomaly and immediately separated the baggage for a thorough physical examination.
During the physical check, the team found a golden, biscuit-shaped metallic item weighing about 110 grams. It is suspected to be gold, and the passenger could not present any valid documents to account for it.
CISF's Crime Intelligence Wing at ASG Gaya quickly passed on the information to income tax department officers in Gaya and Patna. Simultaneously, the CISF ASG Kolkata unit received advance notice to prepare for immediate action.
After the flight reached Kolkata Airport, income tax officials detained the passenger under legal provisions and launched further investigation.
The prompt recovery and precise inter-agency cooperation demonstrate the CISF's firm resolve to maintain strict access control, 24-hour vigilance, and a zero-error security environment across India's civil aviation network.
