Police Probe Multi‑Crore Theft From Gaushala House After Locked Door Broken

Authorities in Katihar have launched a detailed investigation into a high‑value burglary that took place in the Gaushala area during a torrential downpour. The main door lock of a closed house was forced open, allowing thieves to access locked wardrobes and seize jewellery and cash estimated at several lakh rupees.

The homeowner, Mundrika Singh, was away in Bengaluru on a medical visit to her son, leaving the residence unoccupied for about a month. After the break‑in, neighbours observed the tampered lock and quickly informed the police and Singh’s relatives.

Police units arrived on site, sealed the perimeter and began analysing CCTV footage from nearby streets to identify the number of perpetrators and their escape direction. A dedicated task force has been set up to track the suspects and recover the stolen assets.

The local community has demanded heightened night patrols, emphasizing the need for rapid action to prevent similar incidents.
