Garhwa Administration Reviews Chhath Ghat Arrangements

Ahead of the Chhath festival, the administration in Garhwa has reviewed arrangements at riverside ghats, focusing on cleanliness, safety, lighting and traffic management.

Deputy Commissioner Pashupati Nath Mishra conducted an inspection of several ghats in the city on Saturday. He directed the relevant authorities to ensure that facilities are ready in time and appealed to the public to cooperate in maintaining hygiene.

Several ghats along the Danro river are being prepared for the festival. The DC visited the Students Club, Friends Club, Jai Devi Sangh, T. Group, Surya Club, Dipuwan, Sahijna and Kalyanpur ghats.

The Executive Officer of the Municipal Council was asked to speed up cleaning of the ghats and the roads leading to them. The DC also called for barricading, proper illumination, decoration and parking provisions at each site.

Safety measures include the deployment of divers to prevent accidents in rivers and ponds. Police and administrative officials have been asked to keep traffic moving smoothly on the access routes and to give special attention to the needs of devotees.

The DC has also asked officers at the sub-divisional and block levels to inspect ghats in their areas and make sure all basic facilities are provided.

Explaining the purpose of the review, Mishra said Chhath is a festival of great devotion and faith, often celebrated on riverbanks and pond edges. The administration, he said, is expected to provide a suitable platform so devotees face no inconvenience. Officials have been directed to keep the surroundings of the ghats clean, with the goal of creating a devotional atmosphere that allows worship to proceed smoothly.

The Municipal Council chairman added that the council provides clubs with machinery and manpower for cleanliness drives, garbage collection and other civic services at the Chhath ghats.
