Ganesh Festival Disruption Sparks Outcry from Hindu Clergy Across India

The recent egg‑throwing episode at a Ganesh idol welcome march in Maharashtra has ignited a nationwide outcry among Hindu clergy. Saints from Ayodhya, along with leaders from various akhadas, have united in demanding swift justice.

Sant Deveshacharya Maharaj described the incident as “a grave violation of religious sentiment,” stressing that the Ganesh festival is integral to Maharashtra’s cultural fabric and serves as a platform for inter‑community participation.

Mahant Sitaram Das of Saket Bhavan warned that such acts could erode the trust built over decades of peaceful celebrations. He appealed to the state government to identify the alleged offenders and prosecute them under relevant criminal provisions.

Mahant Bhakticharan Das, the national spokesperson for Vaishnava akhadas, reiterated that any deliberate attempt to inflame sectarian tensions during a major religious event will be met with collective resistance from the monastic community. He urged authorities to adopt stringent security measures for upcoming festivities.
