Gandhinagar Celebrates 80th Freedom Day with Flag Hoisting and Tree Planting

Gandhinagar marked the 80th anniversary of India's freedom with a solemn flag‑hoisting ceremony at Lok Bhavan on Saturday, August 15. Governor Acharya Devvrat led the proceedings, raising the national flag and recalling the nation’s journey since 1947.

In his address, the governor stressed the need for citizens to keep the country's interests paramount, performing their duties with sincerity, diligence and a service‑oriented mindset. He highlighted the ongoing challenge of building a developed nation by 2047, calling for collective resolve.

The ceremony also featured a tribute to the unsung heroes of the independence movement, followed by a tree‑planting activity that signaled a commitment to greener growth. Devvrat concluded by wishing peace, progress and prosperity to the people of Gujarat and the nation at large.
