The Tamil Nadu government has unveiled a prestigious list of state awards, honoring excellence in films from 2016 to 2022 and television from 2014 to 2022. Stealing the spotlight is Radhika Sarathkumar, whose nostalgic role as the simple-hearted Chand alongside Rishi Kapoor in ‘Naam Oonch Na Dabang’ (1986) continues to resonate.
Sharing her elation on social platforms, Radhika celebrated her Best Actress win for television in 2014. Though Farah Naaz held the lead, Radhika’s portrayal of innocence won hearts nationwide. Boasting a filmography exceeding 50 Tamil and Telugu movies, she remains a force, now leading solo ventures at 64.
Eyes are on ‘Thai Kizhavi,’ her upcoming comedy-drama hitting theaters February 20. Rarely seen in comedic roles, her bold new look in the teaser has fans hooked, fueling high expectations for this star-driven project sans big male leads.
Joining her in the honors are Keerthy Suresh (‘Pambu Sattai’, 2016), Nayanthara (‘Aramm’, 2017), Jyothika (‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’, 2018), Manju Warrier (‘Asuran’, 2019), and Aparna Balamurali (‘Soorarai Pottru’). Stalwarts Vijay Sethupathi, Karthi, and Dhanush also feature prominently among actors.
This recognition not only celebrates past gems but highlights Radhika’s timeless versatility, dominating South cinema screens even today.
