In a decisive move to upgrade Bihar’s road network, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has asked the Road Construction Department to link all district headquarters with four-lane roads. The directive came during Tuesday’s review meeting where the CM reviewed ongoing highway and expressway projects. He underlined that the goal is to reduce travel time from distant regions to Patna to just five hours. Quality and speed remain top priorities for every expressway, national highway and state highway under construction. Linking tourism centres, cultural landmarks, industrial zones and major farm-produce markets will spur economic activity and open fresh employment avenues, the CM noted. He also called for rigorous bridge inspections and timely repairs under the new maintenance policy. Vikramshila bridge repair will follow expert advice, while the Kacchi Dargah-Bidupur six-lane bridge must be ready before July. The meeting was attended by Deputy CM Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Road Construction Minister Kumar Shailendra and senior bureaucrats.
