Four Fatalities Reported After Car Loses Control on Umaria Highway

A tragic road incident unfolded on the National Highway‑43 corridor in Umaria district on Thursday. A car traveling at an unsafe speed approached the Bharola area, veered off its lane and rammed into a truck that was stationary on the shoulder. The collision was so forceful that the car’s front section was thrown forward, killing four of the five passengers instantly – two women, one man and a toddler aged three.

The surviving passenger was found with critical injuries, suspected to be a neck fracture, and was immediately shifted to the district hospital for emergency care. Police officers, together with villagers, managed to extricate the trapped occupants, and the deceased were forwarded to the mortuary for post‑mortem analysis. The ongoing probe emphasizes speed excess and the truck’s placement as key contributors to the disaster.
