Investigation Links Former PW Contractor to Seelampur CCTV DVR Robbery

Police investigations have uncovered a link between the Seelampur CCTV DVR theft and a former contractor of the Public Works Department. The stolen device was reported missing on July 27, leading to an e‑FIR under sections 303(2) and 317(2) of the IPC.

Technical surveillance identified two thieves, later identified as Danish Ansari and Arif Khan. Notably, Arif Khan had previously worked on installing CCTV cameras for the PWD, giving him detailed knowledge of DVR and hard‑disk removal procedures.

Interrogations revealed that after the robbery, the DVR was sold to a scrap dealer in Jahangirpur, and the buyer, a youth named Asu, was subsequently apprehended.

Authorities seized the stolen DVR, a PWD hard disk, an Oppo mobile phone, and cash totaling around ₹48,000. The investigation also surfaced past criminal records: Danish Ansari is linked to three earlier thefts, while Arif Khan faces an older robbery charge.
