Former MLA Accuses ISF of Retaliation After Leaving Party

Arbul Islam, a former Trinamool Congress MLA from Bhangar, claimed on Sunday that the Indian Secular Front targeted him after his departure from the party. Islam said he was traveling near the Uriapara graveyard when his car was bombed and pelted with bricks on Saturday night.

He blamed ISF legislator Nausad Siddiqui and the party for the assault, stating that the attack was meant to punish him for rejoining Trinamool. While the bombs detonated on the road and did not hit the vehicle, the brick impact shattered the windshield, forcing the driver to speed away from the scene.

Police have opened a case to identify the assailants, reviewing surveillance footage from the area. The investigation is being overseen by senior officers from the Polerhat police station, who arrived at Uriapara shortly after the incident was reported.

The situation escalated further when an ISF office was set on fire the next day, a move the party claims was orchestrated by Trinamool activists.
