Former Minister Emphasizes Youth Role and Reservation Debate in Bihar

Uppendra Kushwaha, a veteran political figure from Bihar, addressed the changing mindset of today's generation during a press conference on August 23. He argued that the aspirations and circumstances of young people have evolved and that their concerns cannot be solved with outdated approaches. Kushwaha called for active dialogue with youth, urging parties to listen attentively and consider their legitimate demands.

He highlighted the importance of grooming leaders like Nishant Kumar and Deepak Prakash, describing them as the future of Bihar’s political landscape. Kushwaha also revisited the reservation controversy, reminding that the previous Nitish Kumar‑led government sought to raise the quota for Other Backward Classes, Extremely Backward Classes and the most marginalized sections to 65 percent, a move that was stayed by the courts. His organization has incorporated the 65‑percent reservation demand into its primary election manifesto and will keep the issue at the forefront of public debate.

Kushwaha concluded by stressing that democracy thrives when differing opinions coexist, and progress is achieved through consensus rather than confrontation.
