Flying Squad Teams Spot Construction Waste and Dust on Delhi Streets

The Air Quality Management Commission’s recent field operation deployed four flying‑squad teams to patrol the Delhi ring road network. Their mission was to evaluate how well dust‑control mechanisms and street‑sweeping routines are being carried out by agencies tasked with road upkeep.

Across the examined 25 road stretches, inspectors identified seventeen infractions, chiefly involving visible dust layers and the build‑up of construction and demolition waste on road edges and carriageways. Such material, when disturbed by traffic, can release fine particles back into the atmosphere, compromising ambient air quality.

Commission representatives emphasized that consistent and effective sweeping, coupled with rapid removal of C&D waste, is vital to prevent dust resuspension. They have instructed the Delhi Public Works Department and allied entities to prioritize remedial measures, enforce stricter cleaning schedules, and maintain a dust‑free environment on all public roads within their jurisdiction.

The ongoing ‘Operation Clean Air’ campaign will keep monitoring these parameters throughout Delhi‑NCR, evaluating ground‑level compliance and ensuring that identified gaps are addressed promptly by the responsible agencies.
