The government projects that the floating solar installations, together with battery storage, will avert roughly 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) each year. By utilising water surfaces such as reservoirs and industrial ponds, the scheme reduces the need for land‑based solar farms, easing pressure on scarce agricultural and developmental ground.
The integration of storage is expected to enhance grid reliability, smooth out intermittency, and enable better utilisation of renewable power during peak demand periods.
