Five Alipurduar BJP Leaders Ousted Over Alleged Party‑Opposing Conduct
Alipurduar, West Bengal – The regional chapter of the Bharatiya Janata Party announced the removal of five senior cadres after a series of allegations that they engaged in activities hostile to the party. The announcement came from district president Mithu Das during a televised press conference on Saturday. The list of expelled members comprises Sunil Mahto, the district secretary; Debash Barman, the general secretary of the Kumargram‑3 mandal; Dilip Pandey, the coordinator for Kumargram‑2; Rajesh Chhetri, the president of Kaalchini‑1 mandal; and Ratan Ray, a member of the district executive body. Their names surfaced in connection with a violent episode outside the Kamakhyaguri police post, which intensified existing factional tensions within the Alipurduar BJP. Party officials stressed that any breach of internal discipline will trigger swift punitive action, echoing the stance of state president Samik Bhatta, who has warned against any form of intimidation linked to the ruling alliance.
