First Government-Owned Earth Observation Satellite, AssamSat, to Boost Agriculture and Disaster Management

AssamSat, slated for launch later this year, will be India’s inaugural government‑owned earth‑observation satellite. The satellite will deliver real‑time imagery for crop monitoring, flood surveillance, urban planning, forest conservation and infrastructure development. Officials expect the data stream to improve decision‑making for disaster response and boost agricultural productivity across the state.

The chief minister stressed that AssamSat will serve as a critical tool for both policymakers and farmers, providing granular information that can be acted upon instantly.
