Firefighters Extinguish Blaze on Empty Tourist Coach Near Bhivandi

In the early hours of July 4, a tourist coach standing idle on Nashik Road in Bhivandi was consumed by a sudden, violent fire. Residents observed a plume of smoke at about 12:30 a.m., and within minutes the vehicle was surrounded by towering flames that illuminated the dark highway.

Local citizens quickly contacted the police and fire services. A fire engine from Nizampura, together with a police patrol, arrived on the scene and began a coordinated attack on the fire. The crew worked tirelessly, applying water and fire‑retardant agents, but the bus had already suffered extensive structural damage.

Fire chief Chagan Chaudhary reported that the alarm was triggered at 12:20 a.m. from the control centre, prompting an immediate deployment. After the flames were subdued, officers performed a comprehensive search of the bus and surrounding area, confirming that no passengers were present when the fire broke out.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Authorities are examining potential technical faults, such as a short circuit or leakage, and have ruled out intentional ignition at this stage. The incident has reignited public concern over safety protocols for vehicles parked on major routes.

No casualties were reported, and after the site was cleared, normal traffic resumed. Police have filed a case and continue to collect forensic evidence to determine the exact trigger of the fire.
