Police File FIR Against BJP Leaders Over Hospital Vandalism in Jamta
Law enforcement agencies have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against eight individuals, including the BJP district president, following the vandalism at Jamta's Sadar Hospital. The FIR alleges that the accused obstructed government work and caused damage to public property during the protest triggered by the death of a mother and her newborn.
Named in the FIR are district BJP president Sumit Sharan, district general secretary Kamlesh Mandal, youth wing president Kunal Singh, municipal president Pradeep Rawat, and other local party functionaries. Several unidentified persons have also been charged.
The police action comes after the district administration received complaints from hospital authorities about the destruction of property and the blockage of the main road. The administration has promised swift and stringent measures against the perpetrators, as directed by the state health minister.
The BJP has responded by forming a three‑member committee to investigate the incident. The committee will visit the site, compile a report, and hand it over to the state party leadership. Parallel investigations are underway to determine the cause of the mother and newborn's deaths and to examine the circumstances of the hospital violence separately.
