Financial Incentives Drive Shift to BS‑6 and Electric Vehicles in Capital Region

Under Parivartan, qualified owners can avail a range of monetary benefits that make upgrading to cleaner technology financially attractive. Buyers of BS‑6 diesel or CNG trucks receive monthly fuel vouchers ranging from Rs 1,200 to Rs 4,800, depending on vehicle category, for up to five years.

Purchasers of electric trucks or buses are eligible for a one‑time incentive between Rs 64,000 and Rs 2.56 lakh. Moreover, the scheme offers a 100 % exemption from road tax for ten years and a full waiver of registration fees, effectively reducing the upfront cost of newer, greener vehicles.

Financing support is reinforced by the participation of 42 banks and non‑banking financial companies, which provide interest rate concessions on auto‑loans. The collaborative framework is designed to ensure that the transition to BS‑6 and electric fleets is not hindered by capital constraints.

These financial measures are expected to accelerate the retirement of older, high‑polluting trucks and buses, thereby contributing to the reduction of particulate matter and nitrogen oxides in Delhi’s air.
