Father of Arrested West Bengal Terrorist on the Run After Arrest
After the detention of Hamim Mandal, a suspected operative of Jaish‑e‑Mohammad, West Bengal police are searching for his father, Moinuddin Mandal, who fled the scene shortly after his son's capture.
Mandal had been sharing a modest dwelling with his son in Pilkhana, a suburb of Hooghly district known for its minority community. Local witnesses said Hamim was a reticent figure, while his father occasionally engaged with residents, leading some neighbours to question the authenticity of his claimed relationship.
Police records show that during the early months of his alleged involvement, Mandal operated a small tailoring shop on Alam Mistri Lane, using it as a plausible cover for covert communications with fellow militants.
The STF confirmed that after the arrest, Moinuddin vanished, prompting a statewide manhunt. Authorities have urged the public to provide any information that could lead to his apprehension.
