Tragedy struck Khallari Mata Temple in Chhattisgarh when a ropeway trolley lost control, crashing onto rocky slopes and killing a female pilgrim on the spot. Sixteen others sustained injuries in the horrific accident that occurred post-prayers on March 22 in Mahasamund district.
The trolley veered off course, slamming into boulders, sparking panic among the crowd-heavy temple area. Frantic cries filled the air as fellow devotees scrambled to assist, with immediate rescue efforts pulling victims from the wreckage.
Police and locals coordinated swiftly, rushing the hurt—including vulnerable kids and seniors—to medical facilities. Four critically injured were transferred to Raipur’s advanced hospitals, while others were admitted locally in Bagbahra.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, visibly shaken, took to social media to mourn the loss and extend sympathies. He highlighted directives for comprehensive treatment of survivors and mandated a high-level investigation. ‘Deeply pained by this ropeway mishap; culprits will face justice,’ Sai posted on X, invoking blessings from Khallari Mata for healing.
