Fatal Fire After Head‑On Truck Collision Near Boyapalem Village

A disastrous head‑on collision between two paper‑laden trucks happened at around 6 a.m. on July 1, near Boyapalem in Guntur district. One truck was travelling from Kurnool toward Guntur, while the other was moving from Guntur toward Chilakaluripet.

The impact caused a massive explosion of flames that quickly spread to both vehicles. The two drivers and a helper were caught inside the burning cabins and could not be rescued, resulting in three deaths.

The blaze forced the closure of NH‑16 for several hours, leading to a prolonged traffic jam. Police diverted vehicles to the adjacent service road, and fire crews battled the fire until it was fully extinguished. The case is now under investigation to determine any possible negligence.
