Fatal Domestic Violence in Delhi: Wife Dead, Husband Dies by Suicide
A fatal episode of domestic violence erupted in a rented flat at Tilangpur Kotla, Delhi, on the night of July 2. According to police statements, Vinay, a 28‑year‑old private‑sector employee, attacked his wife Nisha, 23, with an acid‑battery, inflicting a lethal head wound.
Medical responders found Nisha unconscious, her scalp riddled with deep lacerations and the surrounding area soaked in blood. The assailant, after the brutal attack, swallowed a substantial quantity of sulfamethoxazole tablets, a drug that can cause rapid deterioration of health.
Vinay then carried their three‑year‑old daughter to a nearby residence rented by his mother, located about 150 yards away in Kotla Vihar Phase‑1. He placed a phone call to his sister Priya, confessing that he had murdered his wife because she was on a phone call that aroused his suspicion.
Priya arrived at the scene and discovered Nisha’s body, prompting an immediate alert to local authorities. Both victims were air‑lifted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where Nisha was declared dead on arrival and Vinay succumbed to his self‑inflicted poisoning while receiving treatment.
The Delhi Police have filed an FIR under Section 103(1) of the Indian Penal Code. Investigators are examining potential motives, including financial strain, marital discord, and prior instances of abuse, to determine the full context of the crime.
