Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar was gripped by sorrow after a high-speed car crashed into a police jeep, killing Circle Inspector Jyoti Naik on the spot. The accident unfolded at approximately 5 AM on Wednesday beside the Durga Temple, during what was supposed to be a standard night patrol.
CI Naik and her team were vigilant on the streets when the oncoming car lost control and slammed into their vehicle with ferocious force. The jeep was left in ruins, and Naik, badly hurt, was ferried to the district hospital in vain—she was pronounced dead shortly after. Her commitment to duty ended tragically in an instant.
The car’s driver and one other constable also suffered injuries but are out of danger, undergoing care at the local facility. Police have launched an FIR against the motorist, with preliminary findings blaming rash driving and overspeeding. The investigation continues to uncover full details.
SP Dr. Amrita Duhan and top brass arrived at the hospital to assess the situation and extend condolences to Naik’s family, assuring them of all possible aid. Tributes poured in for the valiant inspector, known for her unwavering dedication, casting a pall of grief over the city.
Adding to the grim tally, a separate catastrophe on Dausa’s Jaipur-Agra highway late Tuesday saw a car smash into a trailer after breaching the median near Kailai village. Five perished, and one youth fights for life following the 12 AM smash-up.
Responders took custody of the deceased, placing them in Sikandra mortuary pending autopsies before handover to kin. The highway faced jams until vehicles were towed away. Speeding and driver error are under scrutiny, with the trailer operator being interrogated.
As families mourn across districts, these incidents highlight perilous road conditions and call for immediate safety measures to prevent future losses.
