Farrukhabad district in Uttar Pradesh witnessed a gruesome domestic homicide on March 7, when 22-year-old Shivani succumbed to severe head injuries inflicted by her husband Vijay during a heated quarrel in their Prem Nagar residence, Kayamganj area.
What started as a verbal spat spiraled out of control, with Vijay reportedly grabbing an axe and delivering a vicious blow to Shivani’s head. Bleeding profusely, she was first taken to Kayamganj Community Health Center for urgent treatment. Medical staff, assessing her critical condition, rushed her to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia District Hospital in Farrukhabad.
Doctors at the hospital confirmed the worst: Shivani had passed away due to her injuries. Her maternal family from Chilouli village, arriving in grief-stricken haste, pointed fingers at Vijay and his kin for systematic harassment that culminated in this barbaric act. ‘We got a call from neighbors saying Vijay had axed my sister,’ said brother Rajat, his voice breaking.
Kayamganj police have launched a full-scale probe, collecting forensic evidence from the blood-soaked home and recording statements from all parties involved. Vijay remains at large, with raids underway to apprehend him. This tragedy highlights the dark underbelly of domestic strife, where weapons turn homes into crime scenes.
Local women’s groups are demanding stricter laws and immediate counseling services for at-risk couples. Shivani’s death leaves behind a void, fueling calls for societal change to prevent such atrocities. The case continues to unfold, with the nation watching for accountability.
