Faridabad police have detained a man who allegedly killed his young daughter in a fit of fury over her inability to count and write numbers up to 50. The 4.5-year-old’s death has sent shockwaves through Haryana, prompting a swift investigation.
The accused, Krishna Jaiswal, and his family had been living in a rented house in Jharshentli village for years. Both parents worked day jobs at a private firm, leaving Krishna to care for their three kids during daytime hours: sons aged 7, daughters 4.5 and 2.
During a teaching session on January 21, the preschooler failed to meet her father’s expectations. Enraged, Krishna assaulted her viciously, leading to her collapse. He fabricated a story of a stair fall and took her to the hospital, only to learn she had succumbed to her injuries.
His wife, returning from work, was devastated but quick to notice the suspicious patterns of abuse—deep bruises marring the child’s face and limbs. Refusing to buy the lie, she alerted authorities, leading to Krishna’s arrest.
In custody, the father broke down, revealing he homeschooled the girl and lost control when she couldn’t perform. Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal confirmed the remand, emphasizing the brutality of the attack.
Communities are reeling, with calls for stricter child protection laws and counseling programs. This case underscores how everyday frustrations can turn deadly without intervention, reminding society to prioritize gentle parenting.
