Family urges authorities to uncover possible foul play in Himashri Boro case
The relatives of Himashri Boro, a 21‑year‑old student from Assam’s Kamrup district, have pleaded with the governments of Andhra Pradesh and the central railway ministry to launch a rigorous probe into her death. Himashri travelled to Visakhapatnam for a performance and was on her way back when she boarded the Vivek Express on October 6. She sent a panicked message indicating that many men were in close proximity within the coach, prompting fear for her safety.
Her luggage was later found in the S‑2 coach, and her remains were recovered from a forested area near Malaiapuram in the Sri Kakuluam district. The circumstances, according to the family, raise suspicions of a conspiracy or criminal act. The chief minister’s letter stresses the need for a transparent investigation that examines the sequence of events from boarding to the recovery of the body.
The family insists that any person found responsible must be prosecuted promptly, and they have appealed for swift justice to bring closure to the grieving community.
