Family Demands Second Post-Mortem in Twisha Case

In a fresh development in the Twisha Sharma death case, her family has approached the Bhopal magistrate court seeking permission for a second post-mortem at AIIMS New Delhi. They believe an independent examination at a leading national institute will strengthen public trust in the ongoing probe. Police, however, have written to the family asking them to immediately collect the body from Bhopal AIIMS. The letter cites a forensic department advisory dated May 18 that highlights the absence of a minus-eighty-degree freezer at the hospital. Current storage at minus four degrees has already been used for eight days, raising concerns that decomposition may soon begin. The police communication clarifies that there is no objection to another autopsy but stresses that the body cannot remain at the institute indefinitely. Twisha, the wife of Samarth Singh, was found dead at her Kolar Hills home on May 12. A post-mortem was conducted the next day, and the body has stayed in the mortuary since. The family maintains that until a second examination is carried out outside Madhya Pradesh, they will not accept the remains. The court is expected to hear the matter shortly.
