Family alleges unpaid fees after husband dies in Tripura de‑addiction centre

Shahna Das Bhattacharya, the grieving wife of the deceased, asserted that her family had already paid the de‑addiction centre multiple times for her husband’s care, medicines, and doctor consultations. Nevertheless, the centre later demanded further payments, prompting her to approach the police. The complaint, filed on August 16, triggered an investigation that uncovered bruises on the victim’s body and led to the arrest of eight individuals associated with the Swapna Foundation centre. Police have indicated that the case will be forwarded to the local magistrate, and a remand request has been filed to continue the probe.
