Family Accuses In‑Laws of Killing Daughter‑in‑Law After Wedding
A newly descended tragedy struck the Sutar family as their daughter‑in‑law, Akriti, was found dead just two months after her wedding. Akriti, a sales executive from Chhatarpur, had married Arastu Sikka on April 24. Her relatives allege that the in‑laws continuously harassed her, demanding a dowry of twenty lakhs.
The family says Akriti was repeatedly threatened and treated harshly by her husband’s relatives. They claim she was forced to endure emotional and financial pressure, which culminated in her untimely death.
On the evening of July 5, Akriti’s mother reported a conversation where Akriti mentioned a meeting at work and said she was returning home. The family noted that Akriti seemed normal at that moment.
Later that night, Arastu called the family to inform them that Akriti was missing. The police arrived approximately ninety minutes later, confirming that a woman’s body was discovered at Palika Kunj, Lodhi Colony.
Investigators are exploring all angles, including the possibility of homicide motivated by dowry demands and the theory of an accidental fall. The police have pledged a thorough inquiry to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
