Families Bring Ritual of Rakhis to Gujarat Prison Cells on August 28

Across four major prisons in Gujarat, families gathered to observe the Raksha Bandhan ritual for the first time this year. In Sabarmati Central, sisters arrived with sweets and flowers, while in Rajkot Central a coordinated effort saw more than a thousand rakhis tied without incident. Jamnagar District Jail provided a ceremonial tray of kumkum, rice and a lamp for each tying ceremony. The event highlighted the state's commitment to inmate welfare, allowing relatives to express affection while maintaining strict security protocols.
