Fake government badge used to swindle villagers, suspect detained

Authorities in Bihar have taken into custody a man who fabricated an IAS officer identity to cheat residents of Khagaria. The accused, identified as Manish Kumar, attached counterfeit government badges to his cars and approached villagers with promises of administrative assistance, extracting cash in the process. He also claimed affiliation with the Central Vigilance Commission and described himself as an undercover agent for the National Security Advisor. Police recovered a forged IAS ID, a high‑value Tesla, a Tata Safari bearing a false "Government of India" label, and a stock of 31 litres of foreign liquor. Additional items seized include two deer antlers, five smartphones, laptops, and a large number of credit and debit cards. Investigators are scrutinizing his financial transactions and potential holdings beyond Bihar.
