Fake Announcement Claiming Harsh Sanghvi as New CM Prompts Legal Action

The Ahmedabad crime branch has taken legal action against a user who posted a sensational but untrue story on X, declaring that Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi would ascend to the Chief Minister’s office and that current Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel would be appointed Governor. The post, attributed to a profile named "Pawan Tyagi," was deemed a deliberate attempt to sow confusion among the public and undermine the constitutional gravitas of the state’s top officials. The FIR invokes Indian Penal Code provisions 336(4), 353(1), 61(2) together with the IT Act’s 66(D) clause. Police are conducting a detailed inquiry to uncover the intent and any possible organized conspiracy behind the misinformation. Citizens have been cautioned not to propagate such baseless claims.
