Expert Committee Flags Missing EIA and Land Data in DMRC Proposal

A high‑level expert committee appointed by the Kerala government examined the DMRC’s corridor proposal and identified two critical gaps. First, the submission does not contain a mandatory Environmental Impact Assessment, a requirement for any large infrastructure project. Second, the document fails to specify the exact land parcels needed for the alignment, leaving uncertainty over acquisition costs and timelines. The committee concluded that while the DMRC report provides a useful baseline, it cannot serve as the definitive project blueprint. Further studies will be commissioned to address these omissions before any implementation decision is taken.
