Push for expanded teacher recruitment in MP schools intensifies
The issue of teacher shortage in Madhya Pradesh has entered the political spotlight as Rahul Gandhi written to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. Gandhi emphasized that vacant teaching posts exceed one lakh, a situation that directly undermines children’s right to quality education. He pointed out that the upcoming 2025 recruitment will cover only 13,089 Class‑III and 10,800 Class‑II vacancies, a number far below the demand expressed by high‑scoring candidates. Many of these candidates are currently employed as guest teachers and lack job security. Gandhi also warned that some aspirants have already crossed the age cut‑off while awaiting a fresh recruitment opportunity. He appealed for the cancellation of legal notices sent to protestors and urged the state government to launch the next phase of promotions and counseling without delay.
