Ex‑Militant Convicted for 2020 Murder Receives Life Imprisonment

A court in Srinagar sentenced a former extremist to life behind bars for a homicide case filed in 2020. The individual, who helped establish the terrorist group Tahreek-ul-Mujahideen, was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs. 50,000.

The case revolved around the killing of Gulam Mohi-ud-Din Dar, the son of Abdul Gani Dar, under Section 302 of the IPC. Law enforcement agencies traced the suspect to multiple violent incidents, ranging from grenade attacks to the seizure of weapons from security forces.

During the investigation, the accused was also found to have provided logistical assistance to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, further cementing his role in regional militancy. The court’s decision reflects a firm stance against terrorism‑linked crimes.
