Ex‑Deputy Chief Minister Alla Nani Succumbs to Heart Attack

Visakhapatnam – Former Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Alla Nani, died of a heart attack on Tuesday at the age of 57. The politician’s death occurred at his residence in Visakhapatnam, prompting an outpouring of grief across the state.

Beginning his career with the Congress party, Nani won the Eluru constituency in 2004 and again in 2009. He later joined the YSR Congress Party, where he contested the 2014 assembly elections but fell short.

He re‑entered the legislature as a Member of the Legislative Council in 2017 and reclaimed an MLA seat from Eluru in 2019. From 2019 until 2022, he served as Deputy Chief Minister and overseer of the Health Ministry in the YSRCP‑led government.

In 2023, he shifted allegiance to the Telugu Desam Party. Prominent figures such as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy publicly mourned his loss, recalling his contributions to healthcare and his dedication to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
