In a decisive move against graft, Bihar’s Economic Offences Unit executed coordinated raids across six properties belonging to Block Development Officer Chandramohan Paswan. The searches, carried out in Darbhanga and Madhubani districts, followed a tip-off that Paswan had accumulated assets disproportionate to his salary. Early estimates place the unexplained wealth at nearly ₹89 lakh—more than 81 percent above his declared income. Teams recovered documents related to land holdings, bank lockers, and jewelry purchases. The raids were authorized by the Muzaffarpur Special Vigilance Court and mark the second such operation by the EOU within a fortnight; an earlier exercise in Jamui district had yielded similar findings against an executive engineer. Authorities maintain that these actions reflect a broader governmental commitment to accountability and public trust.
