Energy and capital goods boost Indian industry in July

Energy‑related activities also showed strength, with electricity and gas supply expanding by 8.7% and water, sewerage and waste management rising 7.4% in July. Production of capital goods surged 16.1%, reflecting higher investment in machinery and equipment for factories. Consumer durable items such as electronics, refrigerators and televisions grew 10.5%, while non‑durable consumer goods slipped 1%.
