Election‑Time Legal Moves Shield Councilors from Detention in Rajasthan

As Rajasthan prepares for municipal elections, the High Court stepped in to protect several elected representatives from arrest. Apart from the ten councilors granted interim bail, the court also ordered a stay on the detention of Nagaur councilor Tejpal Mirda and Sri Vijaynagar councilor Susheel Meedha. The decisions come amid a politically sensitive atmosphere, with BJP winning 15 of the 60 seats in Hanumangarh and independent leader Ganesh Bansal Kheme’s group securing about 32 seats.
