Election Season Sparks Communal Flashbacks, Says BKU Spokesperson

Rakesh Tikait, the national voice of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, warned that political parties are using the anniversary of the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots as a campaign tool. Freshly put up posters bearing inflammatory remarks have rekindled memories of the deadly clash that claimed dozens of lives.

He demanded a swift probe into the origin of the posters, insisting that the officials responsible be identified and prosecuted. Tikait highlighted that the administration's failure to notice such activity in a volatile region is itself a matter for inquiry.

The spokesperson likened the pre‑poll tactics to athletes rehearsing before a competition, suggesting that parties are rehearsing communal narratives to energise their base. He urged the electorate to reject any attempts at religious polarisation and instead focus on issues like infrastructure, agriculture, and employment.

Tikait also dismissed the recent buzz around an alleged hidden structure near a mosque in Saharanpur, calling for factual verification rather than its use as a political lever.
