Election Irregularities Prompt Patole to Demand Supreme Court Action and Election Commission Reform
Nana Patole, a senior Congress representative, focused on the pending Special Investigation Report (SIR) and the role of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during a press briefing on October 13. He reminded listeners that the Supreme Court had previously directed the Election Commission to act on the SIR and to review Form‑6 changes. Patole claimed that despite the court’s orders, no substantive action has been taken.
He noted that petitions filed by Rahul Gandhi in the Supreme Court seek accountability for alleged vote‑rigging and the alleged removal of the Chief Election Commissioner. Patole demanded that the court expedite its decision and that the commission respond to the growing list of discrepancies, including unexplained spikes in voter rolls.
The leader also criticized the government’s narrative that the SIR is a nationwide issue, arguing that Congress has raised concerns in several key states where irregularities are most evident.
