Election Date Set for July 30; BJP, JDU and Others Gear Up for Bankipur Contest
Patna – The Election Commission has scheduled voting for the Bankipur assembly by‑election on July 30. The seat became vacant after the BJP’s national president, Nitin Nawal, was elected to the Rajya Sabha.
With the calendar fixed, the Bharatiya Janata Party is under pressure to name a candidate, while the Janata Dal (United) is also expected to file its nomination. Meanwhile, the RJD, Congress, Jan Suraj Party and Janashakti Janata Dal have already announced their respective contenders, turning the race into a multi‑cornered battle.
Political analysts say the outcome could reshape the power balance in Bihar, especially as the by‑poll is being watched as a litmus test for both the Grand Alliance and the BJP‑led National Democratic Alliance ahead of the upcoming state elections.
